Week 8
The eight-week teaching practice commenced on 19th January 2026. On the first day, optional subject observation was conducted. I handled Class 8D with the topic “Surface Tension – the Unique Property of Water.” For the introduction, students’ previous knowledge was elicited using a collocation activity and tissue paper demonstration.
For Activity 1, a pin-and-water matching activity was given to help students understand the concept of surface tension. Activity 2 involved a magic experiment using milk, which effectively demonstrated surface tension and provided an engaging learning experience for the students.
On 20th January 2026, I took a class for 8D on the topic “Boiling Point of Water.” The lesson was structured based on the AOM model. Although the class initially showed slight boredom, the students gradually became actively involved and participated well in the learning process.
On 21st January 2026, I again handled Class 8D on the topic “Boiling Point and Pressure – the Unique Nature of Water.” The lesson was based on the Inquiry Training Model. The different phases of the model were explained clearly, and appropriate learning aids were used to support experimentation and conceptual understanding.
The week was further enriched with co-curricular activities. The screening process for the Annual Day function was conducted during this week. Separate screenings were held for LP, UP, and HSS sections, and suitable programmes were selected for the Annual Day celebration
