Teaching practice (week 2) 21/07/2025 - 26/07/2025
The second week of my teaching practice turned out to be an enriching experience with both classroom sessions and co-curricular activities adding variety to the week.
On 21st July, I handled a class for 8D during the 7th period. The topic was “Elements”, and I tried to make the session more engaging through different activities. For the introduction, I performed a simple experiment followed by an activity that caught the attention of the students. I introduced the concept of atoms and built the foundation for the topic. For the closure activity, I gave the students a word rearrangement task, where they had to form the definition of elements. This helped to reinforce the learning in an interactive manner. On 26th July, I got another class for 8D during the 8th period. The topic was “Compounds”, which I presented using the Concept Attainment Model. I began the session with positive and negative examples, which created curiosity and involvement among the students. The flow of the class was effective, and the students were able to clearly distinguish between elements and compounds through this method.
This week, I got only two classes, but it was also marked by some co-curricular activities in the school. A film show was arranged for the students, where the movie' Amaran' was screened. Additionally, a video presentation prepared by a 10th standard student in association with Moon day was displayed in the school IT lab, which turned out to be an interesting and informative session for the students.
Overall, the second week of teaching practice was a good balance of teaching, learning, and extracurricular exposure, making it both meaningful and memorable.
