Teaching practice week1 16/07/2025 to 19/07/2025

                    This was my first week of teaching practice at VPMHSS Vellarada for my third semester teaching practice in  B.Ed programme. I reached the school at 9:00 am in  all days of the week without any delay. In this week, I took 4 classes.     

                   On 16th July I took a lesson plan on 8D based on the topic molecules of the chapter Elements and compounds.I used  concept attaintment model for the class.During the first phase ,I presented some positive examples including oxygen ,carbon dioxide ,water etc and negative example Iron, hydrogen atom, helium etc, then I ask students to compare both examples and find out the essential attributes and after that I gave some unlabelled examples and ask the students to distinguish it into positive and negative examples and after that I analysed the session and presented a chart showing the definition of the molecules.It was then followed by giving up follow up activity and enrichment activity where I asked students to prepare models of different molecules .

                          On the next day of 17th July I took class for 8D for the topic formation of molecules and this class was based on constructive way of teaching that focused activity oriented way .In the introduction part I check the pre-requisites of the students by asking some questions related with molecules and after that during the activity one portion I presented experiment to understand the formation of molecules. Then during the activity 2 and activity three part I presented the experiments related with burning of sugar and reaction between magnesium and dilute hydrochloric acid and student feels very curious by watching these kinds of experiments. Then after that ,during this section I asked  different questions to students and I concluded the session like sugar when heated will dissociate to form black substance and components are carbon and oxygen and magnesium react with dilute hydrochloric acid we get magnesium chloride and hydrogen gas, when this hydrogen gas is collected into another tube and a burning incense stick is brought, it react with oxygen and form water droplets .Then I give closure activities to students by filling the products of chemical reaction .I also give students  certain rewards.

                           Then on 18th July ,I took  chemistry class for 8D..During the introduction part I conducted a quiz to understand question related with the reaction of molecutes.During the activity 1 part, I played a game by giving a mystery box and ask questions like what do you feel inside the box ?Is it indivisible? Then teacher consolidates that all matter is made up of indivisible particles called atoms and atoms are formed when molecules are split. During the second activity teacher give some coloured clay balls and ask students to join same colours as well as different colours, then from that dalton's atomic theory was formulated .

                           Then  on the same day I took class for 9th standard based on the topic displacement of the chapter equations of the motion.The class was based on activity oriented way, for that, I rolled a ball on the table and ask the students about  the starting point and end point .Students replied it as initial position and final position.Then I check their previous knowledge by asking questions related with motion and rest .Then after the introductory part ,I presented the activity  where I presented the motion of a child from home to school and I ask the students to find out the distance between each of the point and from that I formulated the definition of displacement as the shortest distance between initial point and final position .Then I explained about vector quantities.Then during second activity I presented two type of motions ,one is the straight line motion and the other one is the triangular motion and I asked some questions related with distance as well as displacement. Then from that I consolidated that  during straight line motion ,distance and displacement are equal.Students understand the topic very much and it was then followed by enrichment activity displacement art .During this week we had an awareness campaign for rabies leaded by anappara CHC.This was the first week of my teaching practice.

Teaching practice (week 2) 21/07/2025 - 26/07/2025

 The second week of my teaching practice turned out to be an enriching experience with both classroom sessions and co-curricular activities adding variety to the week.                     On 21st July, I handled a class for 8D during the 7th period. The topic was “Elements”, and I tried to make the session more engaging through different activities. For the introduction, I performed a simple experiment followed by an activity that caught the attention of the students. I introduced the concept of atoms and built the foundation for the topic. For the closure activity, I gave the students a word rearrangement task, where they had to form the definition of elements.
