Phase 2-week 2(3/11/2025 - 7/11/2025)

The second week of my teaching practice began on 3rd November 2025. It was another engaging and fruitful week, marked by a variety of innovative teaching strategies and interactive classroom experiences.

On 3rd November, I took a class for Standard 9F during the third period. The topic for the day was “Factors Affecting Buoyant Force.” The session began with a brief review of the students’ previous knowledge about buoyant force, ensuring continuity from the earlier lessons. For Activities 1 and 2, I combined the tasks using the Jigsaw Method to promote collaborative learning. The class was divided into two home groups, and each group worked on a specific subtopic before sharing their findings with others. The session concluded with a Think–Share–Pair technique, where students discussed their ideas in pairs and shared insights with the class. This method encouraged deeper understanding and active participation.

On 4th November, I handled Class 8D during the sixth period, teaching the topic “Common Element in Acids.” The lesson began with riddles that checked the students’ prior understanding in an enjoyable manner. For Activity 1, I distributed cards showing the dissociation of acids, helping students identify the common element in all acids. Activity 2 involved table completion, allowing learners to organize information systematically. The class concluded with a closure activity where students identified organic acids from a table, reinforcing their learning through application.

On the same day (4th November), I also took another session for Class 9F on the topic “Archimedes’ Principle.” The class started with an introductory activity that linked back to the concept of buoyant force. In Activity 1, I demonstrated the concept using an overflowing jar experiment, allowing students to visually grasp the displacement of water. For Activity 2, I presented a video explaining Archimedes’ Principle, which strengthened their conceptual clarity. The session ended creatively with a slogan-making activity as closure, encouraging students to express scientific ideas through art and words.

On 5th November, I again took Class 9F during the seventh period, on the topic “Principle of Floatation.” The introduction featured a role-play activity, which made the session lively and interactive. For Activity 1, students experimented with wooden and iron blocks, comparing their floating behaviors to derive the concept. In Activity 2, aluminum foil boards—one flat and one folded—were used to explore how shape affects floatation. The class concluded with an engaging discussion that helped students internalize the concept effectively.

On 6th November, I had my observation class for the optional subject. The topic selected was “Relative Density” for Class 9F. To introduce the lesson, I conducted an experiment to recall the concept of buoyant force. For Activity 1, students were given equipment to measure the density of water and salt water, promoting hands-on exploration. In Activity 2, students completed a comparison table of various substances, classifying them as less dense or more dense than water. The session effectively demonstrated how practical activities enhance conceptual understanding.

The week was also enriched with many co-curricular activities. Most of the programs were held outside the school campus as the Sub-District Kalolsavam took place from 4th to 7th November 2025. Many students from the school participated in the events conducted at Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, Parassala, and BRC Parassala. Several students secured prizes and were selected for the district-level competitions, bringing pride to the school. In addition, on Monday, a prize distribution ceremony was held during the morning assembly to honor the winners of the Eureka Examination, recognizing their academic excellence.

Overall, Week 2 was marked by active classroom engagement, the use of innovative teaching strategies, and the joy of co-curricular achievements. The balance between academic instruction and cultural exposure made the week both productive and memorable.
