Phase 2 -week 1(27-10-2025 to 31-10-2025)
The second phase of my teaching practice commenced on 27th October 2025. However, I did not get any class on that day. The classes officially began from 28th October 2025, marking the start of an enriching week of learning and experiences.
On 28th October, I handled Class 9F during the first period and started a new chapter on “Buoyant Force.” The session began with an engaging bus section as an introductory activity to connect students with the concept. For Activity 1, I demonstrated an experiment using a bucket and a mug, helping students visualize the upward force acting on the object. In Activity 2, the difference in the weight of the mug inside and outside water was shown, and from this, the concept of buoyant force was derived. The class concluded with adequate closure and meaningful follow-up activities to reinforce learning.
On 29th October, I again took Class 9F, and the topic was “Measurement of Force.” The session began by revising the previously learned concept of buoyant force. Activities were then performed to calculate the buoyant force, followed by an explanation of the laws of weight, leading to the derivation of the main concept. The students participated actively and showed great enthusiasm throughout the class.
On 30th October, I handled Class 8D and introduced the topic “Reaction of Metals with Acids.” To begin with, I presented different common substances and asked students to identify the similar taste among them, leading to the introduction of acids. Two experimental activities were performed to show the evolution of hydrogen gas, which made the concept clear and interesting. The session concluded with closure and follow-up activities to consolidate the topic.
On 31st October, I continued with Class 8D, teaching the topic “Reaction of Acids with Carbonates.” The class began with a recap of the previous lesson on reactions of acids with metals. Using various apparatus, I demonstrated activities to explain the new concept effectively. A video presentation was also included to enhance understanding. The session ended with proper closure and enrichment activities to encourage further exploration.
The week was also filled with co-curricular activities that enriched the school environment. On Wednesday, a cultural program titled “Kaliyattam” was organized by Archana Women’s Centre, Ettumanoor, focusing on women empowerment and the protection of rivers and lakes. On Friday morning, a programme was conducted by the SPC unit, featuring a run against drug abuse campaign. The event concluded with a fresher up session.
Overall, the week was a meaningful and rewarding start to the second phase of teaching practice, blending academic engagement with social awareness and creative expression.
